What is the definition of the transverse space?

Could someone please help me on what the definition of cross-sectional area is? Also, another question, for calculations of technical restrictions, when the area through cross-measured? Thanks

A cross section is an area that if you take one part of the object, the area would be calculated in terms of radio, x, y, L, etc depending pm object. It is used to calculate the volumes of objects strangely.
